William Seigler of Largo Florida was charged by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission for offering illegal off-exchange foreign currency options. According to the court order, Mr. Seigler and his company Sonoma Trading Corporation violated provisions of the Commodity Exchange Act. Mr. Seigler’s investors used his company’s website for online trading for which he would transfer to an account he held in San Jose, Costa Rica. Mr. Seigler, however, wasn’t registered with the Commission and was found by the court to have offered illegal off-exchange options contracts and to have failed to register as a futures commission merchant.
